Welcome to the 6th Grade Rensizzle Wiki Page! We are the MOG group. MOG stands for Metropolitan Opera Guild. Each year the 6th grade works on creating an original musical theatre piece that is presented to the school community. The theme of each musical varies year to year, but it is always connected to the ELA and Social Studies Curriculum.

Where does MOG come in? For the past 7 years a group of teachers from The Renaissance School have been attending professional development workshops to explore the many ways that opera and musical theatre can be an integral part of academic curriculum. The 6th grade students use many of these skills learned in these workshops not only for the creation of an original script and music for the performance, but it is also a large part of reading, writing and social studies activities and projects.

This year for Rensizzle the 6th grade used their humanities class time to create the script/libretto, songs, musical compositions, and a huge mural for our musical performance. We used this time to begin and work on the creative pieces so that we are ready to go into production (auditions, rehearsals, and staging) when we get back from the holiday break.
