Goals and Objectives: Comparing and contrasting different types of theater; developing students’ skills in performance, stage combat and self-expression; expanding students’ knowledge of theater opportunities in NYC

Activities:
Monday, October 21 – Film, Franco Zeferilli’s “Romeo & Juliet”, Shakespeare and stage fighting workshop with professional actors from Classical Stage Company; TRCS auditorium.

Tuesday, October 22 –
Finish watching “Romeo and Juliet” and practice “Romeo and Juliet” scenes, preview visits to BRIC and Mark Morris Dance Center; pre-screening discussion for film”4 Little Girls” at TRCS and visit to City College Theatre Department at 1PM.
Go to City College to tour the department and facilities, speak with faculty and current students about their training and professional experiences in theatre, learn about potential opportunities post-graduation from TRCS.

Wednesday, October 23 –
Go to BAM for presentation of “4 Little Girls” movie – “4 Little Girls” movie at 10 at BAM with post-film discussion, followed by performing Shakespeare scenes in Fort Greene Park.

We would invite any future opportunity to collaborate.

Thursday, October 24 –
Arrive at TRCS at 12pm, 2PM Panel Discussion in Manhattan at CEI-PEA, with Producer, Casting Director, Actor, and Kelly Delaney about working in the theatre industry. We then visit to Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute for tour at 7:20pm, viewing of a production, and Q and A with actors and director after the show (who are current NYU Tisch students), return to TRCS by 11PM.

  • Go to Lee Strasberg Studios for exploration of method acting, viewing of a current production, and discussion with actors and directors about their experiences of working in the theatre community in NYC

Visit to Hunter College Theater Department at 11AM, and visit to Marymount Manhattan Theater Department at 1PM
