Narrative: Themes and Goals - NYC Tourism - Preplanning
Will be investigating Global tourism industry; national sites of interest; NYS sites of interest including NYC; learning how to be a tour guide; learning how to run a tour business; designing a tour; classifying tours/comparing tours--all based on student input and decisions (see above.)
Reading/Media Content will include selecting chapters to read from some text books; showing NYC/NYS tour guide videos; studying the brochures of some tour companies; researching how to be a tour guide.
Incorporating Writing: Students will take notes on the selected chapters for jigsaw activities. Students will be taking notes of the appealing freatures of the brochrues and/or the tour guide videos. Students will be designing a brochure of a selected site. Students will make a summary of the job descriptions. Students will be designing a tour itinerary of a selected site and presenting to the group.
