Spoken Word!

Monday, November 26th, 2012-
Today was the first day of meeting the members of our Rensizzle group. We began reading and analyzing poetry, then we began drafting our own poems. We created a list of norms and expectations that everyone agreed to follow and respect. We analyzed the meaning of the rules of being a Maroon poet.

On Tuesday we revised our poems, then we left to go to in Manhattan. We ate at Whole Foods and we later visited the Poets House. There we worked on revising our poems. We helped Muzahid work on his poem and examined the literary devices used in various poems that we listened to. We then worked on our own poetry afterwards.

Revision Workshop at Poets House

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012-
The main prompt for today was for us to write a love poem to ourselves. We then added our own revisions to one of the poems we wrote on Monday or Tuesday, using the revision tips we learned at Poets House. Later, we went to the Poet-Linc poetry slam at Lincoln Center. Devin got to be judge for the slam! A few of us participated in the open mic at the end of the event.
